Discover the Best Mayan Jungle Excursion and Snorkeling Experience with Turtles in Akumal

For instance, one of the most memorable trips I’ve taken was a recent excursion with Living Dreams Mexico. We went on their Mayan Jungle Expedition, which included an unforgettable Turtle Snorkeling experience. Read more to know how fun it was!

Akumal Beach

We started our day early at 8AM with a pick up from The Fives Beach, since it was so early I skipped breakfast that day because we had a long night previously! However, the transfers are private and we had the opportunity to stop by at Starbucks for a quick pick me up breakfast. Great! I was feeling hungry at this point and it was totally a good idea to eat something before doing a full day of activities!

Then our first activity was the sea turtle snorkeling at Akumal Beach. Snorkeling gears were provided and life jackets were provided at the site. This took us about 45 minutes and we saw a variety of fishes and about three sea turtles. Aside from the guide from Living Dreams, a local snorkeling guide actually accompanied us as well. She is fully dressed in a diving suit with a donut floaty. The floaty is for non-strong swimmers, like me, where she can tow me along and I can actually snorkel too. Boy I had not let go of that floaty!

Cenote Azul

After the snorkeling trip, we then went for a Mayan Jungle Expedition where we started with two zipline, canoeing, then off to see the Cenotes. Cenote Azul was my favorite as the waters are so clear and blue, little cooler but definitely great during a hot day! We also went to Cenote Piranha where you hang on a rope to get across the cenote and jump in! See Video of the zip-line below!

FUN FACT: I was pregnant with my second child during this excursion! LOL

Mexican Lunch

After a half a day of activities we head to a very yummy lunch at the Mayan Village. The food they served was sooo good, we had grilled pork and chicken, Mexican rice and beans, and guacamole. Pair that with Hibiscus water and I was very satisfied. They also have churros at an extra cost and that was very good. Thinking about it right now makes me hungry!

We ended our tour with a souvenir from the Village of Tankah where they make handmade bracelets and will actually give you a free one too! I unfortunately lost the free gift I got before we even left but I bought a bracelet from them so I kept that one as a souvenir!

I absolutely love the fact that this excursion is customizable, our guide Mariana was very knowledgeable, and I will request her the next time I do another tour with them. Another thing I love most is the fact that the cenotes we visited were not too crowded and we were able to enjoy each one!
